1721Bailey, Defervescence, a growing cool, an abating. 1775in Ash. Hence in mod. Dicts. 2. Path. The decrease of bodily temperature which accompanies the abatement of fever or feverish symptoms; the period of this decrease. (Introduced in German (defervescenz) by Wunderlich.)
