de-ice, v.|diːˈaɪs| [f. de- II. 2 + ice n.] trans. To remove or prevent the formation of ice on (parts of an aeroplane, machine, ship, etc.); to clear of ice. More usually as de-icing ppl. a. and vbl. n., removing or preventing ice-formation.
