dentate, a.|ˈdɛnteɪt| [ad. L. dentāt-us, f. dens, dent-em tooth: see -ate2 2] Having ‘teeth’ or tooth-like projections along the edge; toothed. Chiefly in Zool. and Bot.; in Bot. spec. of leaves having sharp teeth directed outwards.
