a. adj. Belonging to the Stomatopoda, an order of malacostracous crustaceans, orig. (in form Stomapoda: see stomapod) synonymous with Gastrura, now restricted to the family Squillidæ.
b. n. A stomatopod crustacean.
1877Huxley Anat. Inv. Anim. vi. 361, I believe that the tergum of the seventh (or first thoracic) somite is obsolete, as in a Stomatopod.
