streusel Chiefly U.S. (ˈstrɔɪzəl, ˈstruːzəl, ‖ ˈʃtrɔʏzəl) [Ger., f. streuen to sprinkle.] A crumb-like topping for cakes and pastries made from fat, flour, cinnamon, and sugar; a confection with such a topping. Freq. attrib., esp. as streusel cake, streusel kuchen.
