diazomethane, n. Chem.|daɪˌæzəʊˈmiːθeɪn, daɪˌeɪzəʊ-| [ad. G. Diazomethan (H. von Pechmann 1894, in Ber. d. Deut. Chem. Ges. XXVII. 1888), f. diazo- + methane n.] An aliphatic diazo compound, CH2N2 , a poisonous yellow gas used as a methylating agent.
