† dignation Obs.|dɪgˈneɪʃən| [a. OF. dignation, -acion, ad. L. dignātiōn-em, n. of action f. dignāre, -ārī to think worthy, deign.] The action of deeming or treating any one as worthy, the conferring of dignity or honour; favour shown or honour conferred; condescension: chiefly said of the gracious action of a superior.
