Diophantine, a. Math.|daɪəʊˈfæntɪn, -aɪn| [f. proper name Diophant-us + -ine.] Of or pertaining to Diophantus of Alexandria, a celebrated mathematician, who flourished in the fourth century; spec. applied to problems involving indeterminate equations, and to a method of solving these (Diophantine analysis) attributed to him.
