1942C. E. Tilley in Mineral. Mag. XXVI. 194 For the new mineral the name rankinite is now proposed in honour of Mr. G. A. Rankin, who has contributed so much to our knowledge of the binary and ternary systems in which it was first discovered as a constituent phase. 1961[see kilchoanite]. 1966W. A. Deer et al. Introd. Rock-forming Minerals i. 77 Rankinite occurs at contacts between limestone and basic igneous rocks, as at Scawt Hill, Northern Ireland, and Ardnamurchan. 1974Mineral. Abstr. XXV. 322/1 Rankinite occurs in the metasomatic formations of the Anakitsk trap massif, in the Lower Tunguska area [of the U.S.S.R.], where it is associated with other high-temperature phases. |
