‖ stœchas|ˈstiːkæs| Also 6 stechas, stichas, 8 erron. stæchas. See also stechados, stickadove. [L., a. Gr. στοιχάς. According to Pliny the plant was so called because imported from the Stœchades islands (Gr. στοιχάδες, lit. ‘standing in a row’, f. στοῖχος row), now Les Iles d'Hyères.] The plant French Lavender, Lavandula stœchas.
