subfusc, a. and n.|ˈsʌb-, sʌbˈfʌsk| Also -fusk. [ad. L. subfuscus, var. of suffuscus: see sub- 21 a + fusk.] a. Of dusky, dull, or sombre hue; spec. of clothing: dark, as prescribed by the regulations of the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge for examinations and other formal occasions.
