▪ I. † diˈversory, n. Obs. [ad. L. dī-, properly dēversōri-um, lodging-place, inn, f. dēvertĕre to turn aside, turn in, resort, lodge: cf. OF. diversoire (12th c.), It diversorio ‘an Inne, an hostery.’ See deversary.] A place to which one turns in by the way; a temporary lodging-place or shelter.
