A relatively short period of sexual quiescence between metoestrus and prooestrus.

It is followed at once by a new pro-œstrum, and the four periods, pro-œstrum, œstrus, metœstrum, and diœstrum, I have designated the diœstrous cycle. 1923Physiol. Rev.
