supernatant, a. and n.|s(j)uːpəˈneɪtənt| [ad. L. supernatant-, -ans, pr. pple. of supernatāre: see super- 2 and natant.] A. adj. a. Swimming above, floating on the surface (as a lighter liquid on a heavier).
