† surbating, vbl. n. Obs. Forms: see surbate v.; also 6–7 erron. surbutting. [f. surbated: see -ing1.] The action of making the hoofs or feet sore by walking; foot-soreness. The definition in quot. 16072 is repeated in later works of reference.
