‖ surturbrand|ˈsɜːtɜːbrænd| Also 8 erron. sutur-, sortebrand. [a. G. surturbrand, ad. Icel. surtarbrandr, f. Surtar, gen. of Surtr (related to svartr swart a.) name of a fire-giant + brandr brand n.] A name for lignite as occurring in Iceland.
