ecdysial, a. Ent.|ɛkˈdɪzɪəl| [f. ecdysis n.: see -al.] Pertaining to, instrumental in, or characteristic of ecdysis; spec. applied to a line along which cleavage occurs during ecdysis, which is still discernible in the adult forms of some insects. ecdysial gland, the prothoracic gland, which secretes ecdysone.
