edaphodont, a. Palæont.|ˈɛdəfəʊdɒnt| [ad. mod.L. edaphodus (-odont-), f. Gr. ἔδαϕος floor + ὀδούς, ὀδόντ-ος tooth; the name was given by Buckland on account of the shape of the teeth.] A fish of the fossil genus Edaphodus, remains of which are found in deposits ranging from the Cretaceous to the Eocene.
