† syndesis Cytology. Obs.|sɪnˈdiːsɪs| [a. G. syndesis (V. Häcker 1904, in Zool. Jahrb. VII. 200), f. Gr. συν- syn-1 + δέσις binding together (f. δεσµός bond, connection).] The pairing of chromosomes in mitosis or meiosis. Cf. synapsis 2.
