A greyish-black mineral, a variety of hydronephilite.
Named by Paykull (as rauit) in 1874. Some recent Dicts. give the correct form ranite.
1875in Dana's Min. (ed. 5) App. ii. 1881Watts Dict. Chem. 3rd Suppl. 1743 Rauite, a zeolite from the island of Lamö, near Brevig in Norway. It is related to thomsonite, and has probably been formed by decomposition of elæolite. |
