The designation of an acid C18H34O2, a solid isomeric modification of elaic (oleic) acid, produced by the action of nitrous acid. Also elaidic ethers: a name for two oily liquids, elaidate of ethyl (C18H33O2·C2H5) and elaidate of methyl (C16H33O2·CH3), prepared from elaidic acid and alcohol. So eˈlaidate [see -ate4], a salt of elaidic acid. eˈlaidin [see -in], a solid isomeric modification of olein, produced by the action of nitrous acid on olein.
