Elohist|ɛˈləʊhɪst| [f. Elohim) + -ist.] The name given by Hebraists to the author (or authors) of those parts of the Hexateuch which are marked by the use of Elohim as the name of God instead of Yahveh (popularly written Jehovah). See Jehovist, Yahvist.
