prismatoid, a. and n.|ˈprɪzmətɔɪd| [ad. Gr. πρισµατοειδής prism-shaped, f. πρισµατο-: see prec. and -oid. So mod.F. prismatoïde.] A. adj. Cryst. Applied to any plane, in a crystallographic system, parallel to one of the three axes of co-ordinates and intersecting the other two; so called because a group of eight such planes would form a prism. Opposed to octahedrid and pinakoid.
