F. tartrélique (Frémy 1838), arbitrarily formed, along with tartralic, q.v., to indicate derivation from tartaric acid by further heating; the a and e indicating the order of production of these modifications. (1838).)] In *tartrelic acid, soluble tartaric anhydride, C₄H₄O₅ = C₄H₆O₆{b1}H₂O, obtained as a yellowish deliquescent mass by quickly heating small quantities of tartaric acid.
