taxodont, a. Zool.|ˈtæksədɒnt| [f. Gr. τάξις arrangement + ὀδούς, ὀδοντ-, tooth.] Of a bivalve shell: Having the hinge formed by a long series of similar teeth and sockets, as in the group Taxodonta, containing the ark-shells and the genus Leda. Said also of the hinge, and of the arrangement.
