The term is thought to have arisen from advice given by Leon Trotsky to his followers in La Vérité, Sept. 1934: En disant ce qui est, il faut entrer dans le parti Socialiste. Cf. also J. P. The policy or practice of joining an organization with the intention of subverting its aims and activities (see quots.); organized infiltration.
