‖ epigastrium Anat.|ɛpɪˈgæstrɪəm| [mod.L., ad. Gr. ἐπιγάστριον, neut. of ἐπιγάστριος, f. ἐπί upon + γαστήρ stomach. Cf. F. épigastre.] ‘That part of the abdomen which is immediately over the stomach’ (Syd. Soc. Lex.).
