etorphine, n. Pharm.|ɛˈtɔːfiːn| [f. ethene n. + morphine n.] A synthetic morphine derivative, C25H33NO4 , which is used to anaesthetize and immobilize large animals and also occasionally given as a narcotic analgesic (usu. as the hydrochloride).
