A currency unit in Botswana, equal to 1/100 of a pula (sense 2). Also, a coin of this value.

Its first task has been to conduct the issuance of the new notes (Pula) and coins (Thebe) in 1976. 1976N.Y. Times 15 Aug. 6/1 The new unit—the pula, which will be divided into 100 thebe—will have the same value, however, as the rand, which ceases to become legal tender in this country as of Aug. 23.
