† excodiˈcation Obs. rare—1. [ad. late L. excōdicātiōn-em, n. of action f. excōdicā-re to remove the soil from the roots of a tree, f. ex- (see ex- prefix1) + cōdex, cōdic-em, later form of caudex stem, trunk.] The action of digging up or removing the soil from the roots of a tree.
