ˈthermocouple Formerly also thermo-couple. [f. thermo- + couple n.] A thermoelectric device for measuring temperature, consisting of two different metals joined at a point so that the junction develops a voltage dependent on the amount by which its temperature differs from that of the other end of each metal.
