[mod. ad. assumed Gr. *ἐκστροϕία, f. ἐκ-, ἐξ- out (see ex- prefix2) + στροϕ- ablaut-form of the root of στρέϕ-ειν to turn. Cf. Fr. exstrophie. The proper spelling according to the analogy of Gr. derivatives would be ecstrophy.]
A turning inside out of a part; esp. a congenital malformation in which the bladder appears to be turned inside out.
