‖ feijão, n.|fəiˈʒãu| [Pg. (sing.), f. L. phaseolus, faseolus edible bean.] Any of various edible beans, esp. forms of the haricot bean, Phaseolus vulgaris, used as a staple item of diet in Brazil. Cf. *feijoada n.
