Fine Gael Pol.|ˌfiːnə ˈgeɪl| [Ir., lit. ‘Tribe of Gaels’.] An Irish political organization and party which was formed after the collapse of the United Ireland Party, and entered Dail Eireann in 1937. The Cumann na nGaedheal Party (formed in 1923) and the United Ireland Party (formed in 1933) were the political predecessors of Fine Gael, and are sometimes referred to as Fine Gael; however, the Party did not officially adopt this name until 1937.
