topiary, a. (n.) Gardening.|ˈtəʊpɪərɪ| Also 6–7 -arie. [ad. rare L. topiāri-us: see prec. Cf. F. topiaire adj. and n. (Rabelais, 1548).] Consisting in clipping and trimming shrubs, etc. into ornamental or fantastic shapes.
