‖ Flamingant, n. and a.|flamɪŋgɑ̃| [Fr., = Flemish-speaking, f. *flameng, fem. flamenge, ad. Du. Vlaming fleming1.] a. n. An advocate of the recognition of Flemish as an official language of Belgium, or of the exclusive use of Flemish in certain parts of Belgium. b. attrib. or as adj. Of or pertaining to such advocates or their policies. Hence ˈFlamingantism, the policy of furthering the use of Flemish.
