used as combining form of L. tōtus whole, in certain cases, instead of the normal form toti- (see -o1), forming compound adjs., a. in sense ‘entirely, wholly, utterly’ (see -o1 1), as ˈtoto-conˈgenital, ˈtoto-ˈmute, ˈtoto-oˈfficious; b. in sense ‘total and..’ (see -o1 2), as ˈtoto-ˈpartial Logic, applied to a proposition in which one term is universal and the other particular; so ˈtoto-ˈtotal, having both terms universal.
