A small tree of Brazil and Guyana, Humirium floribundum, the wood of which, turanira-wood, is used for rafters; its bark is greatly esteemed as a perfume, and when wounded a fragrant yellow balsam, termed in Brazil balsam of Umiri, flows from it. See also quot. 1884.
