floreat|ˈflɒriːæt| [L. floreat may he (it) flourish, 3rd sing. pres. subj. of florēre to flower, flourish.] Used in conjunction with a name to indicate the hope that the named person, institution, etc., may prosper; spec. in Floreat Etona, the motto of Eton College.
