The synthetic compound 2-diethylaminoethyl p-aminobenzoate, NH2C6H4·COO·CH2CH2N(C2H5)2, which is used as a local anæsthetic, usu. in the form of its hydrochloride, a white, crystalline solid. Cf. novocain.
