franckeite Min.|ˈfræŋkəaɪt| [ad. G. franckeit (A. W. Stelzner 1893, in Neues Jahrb. f. Min. ii. 124), f. the name of Carl and Ernest Francke, mining engineers: see -ite1.] A sulphostannate of lead, Pb5Sn3Sb2S14, forming lustrous greyish-black orthorhombic crystals.

LXIV. ii. 576 This new mineral, which is of special interest as indicating the character of the occurrence of tin in the Bolivian mines..is named franckeite by the author in honour of C. and E.
