Frasnian, a. Geol.|ˈfræznɪən| Formerly also -ien. [ad. F. Frasnien (J. Gosselet 1879, in Ann. Soc. géol. du Nord VI. 396), f. Frasne, var. Frasnes, name of a village and commune in southern Belgium.] Name of the lower of the two stages constituting the Upper Devonian in Europe; of or pertaining to this stage or the geological period during which it was deposited.
