furfural Chem.|ˈfɜːfjʊəræl| [f. furfurol + -al2.] An aldehyde of furan, C4H3O·CHO, a colourless liquid which darkens in air and which is used chiefly as a solvent and in the manufacture of furan derivatives and synthetic resins; 2-furaldehyde; = furfurol; furfural resin = furan resin.
