ganglioside Biochem.|ˈgæŋglɪəʊsaɪd| [a. G. ganglioside (E. Klenk 1942, in Zeitschr. f. physiol. Chem. CCLXXIII. 76), f. ganglion + -oside.] Any of a group of glycolipids present chiefly in the grey matter of man and some animals and distinguished from cerebrosides by the presence of neuraminic acid among the products of their hydrolysis.
