truscottite Min.|ˈtrʌskətaɪt| [ad. Du. truscottiet (P. Hövig 1914, in Jaarboek van het Mijnwezen in Nederlandsch Oost-Indië XLI. 202), f. the name of S. J. Truscott (1870–1950), English mining engineer: see -ite1.] A hydrated basic silicate of calcium and manganese occurring as crystals of the hexagonal system that are typically pearly white.
