1818Maginn Vidocq Versified iv. Misc. I. 353 ‘Lots of gatter’ quo' she, ‘are flowing’. 1841Punch I. 243/2 Gatter is but 3d. a pot, and that's the price of a reasonable 'pike ticket. 1851Mayhew Lond.
