† gazophyˈlacium Obs. [a. late L. gazophylacium, ad. Gr. γαζοϕυλάκιον, f. γάζα treasure + ϕυλάσσειν to guard, keep.] The box in which offerings to the Temple were received; a strong-box or treasure-chest.
