tylosin Vet. Sci.|ˈtaɪləʊsɪn| [Etym. unkn.; see -in1.] A macrolide antibiotic, C46H77NO17, produced by Streptomyces fradiæ and used esp. to treat respiratory infections in animals.

XI. 326 Tylosin, a new antibiotic substance, has been obtained from soil isolates tentatively identified as strains of Streptomyces fradiae (Waksman and Curtis) Waksman and Henrici. 1968[see macrolide]. 1981Antimicrobial Agents & Chemotherapy XX. 214/1 Tylosin is a complex macrolide antibiotic which is produced commercially by a strain of Streptomyces fradiae.., it is also produced by strains of Streptomyces rimosus..and Streptomyces hygroscopicus. |
