Tyro-thrix (see tyrothricin) + -cide + -in1, -ine5, after gramicidin.] (Any of) a group of crystalline monocyclic decapeptide antibiotics which along with the gramicidins are the active components of tyrothricin, as tyrocidine A (C66H87O13N13), tyrocidine B (C68H88O13N14), tyrocidine C (C70H88O13N15).
