glauconite Min.|ˈglɔːkənaɪt| [Named by Keferstein 1828 (in Ger. form glaukonit), f. Gr. γλαυκόν, neut. of γλαυκός adj. (see glaucous) + -ite.] Hydrous silicate of iron, potassium, and other bases, commonly called green earth.
